I went into a retail outlet we’re all familiar with. I had a list of things to buy, but I did not need a full basket. I needed a carry basket. As I looked high and low for one not one sales associate spoke, much less help me find one. As I made my way through the store I was not spoken to, nor assisted once. The only time I had human interaction was when the cashier at self-checkout was forced to engage me because some of the items were too light to register on the scale.
Oh, you know what, I lied. I did receive two good mornings while I was there. Pardon me.
I realize this is the norm for the national retailers we encounter day in and day out, but should it be, and does this not light a fire under us locals who inspire our communities to buy local?
I would certainly hope so. Were it not for the buying customer on any level every business would go out of business.
That’s my PSA for the day. 🙂
